Pakistani navy inducts Chinese-made frigate

ISLAMABAD -- The Pakistani navy inducted a Chinese-manufactured F-22 frigate, named PNS Shamsheer, into its fleet February 8.


Prime MinisterYousaf Raza Gilani opened the ceremony, Aaj News reported.


According to the navy’s website, PNS Shamsheer is the second of four warships being manufactured for Pakistan at the Hudong Zhonghua Shipyard in Shanghai.


The F-22P is fitted with long-range surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles, automatic 76mm guns, and long-range surface and air surveillance radars.
