Uzbek-Tajik customs feud escalates
TASHKENT - An unnamed Uzbek customs official said February 6 that Tajik border guards at the Sarosie border crossing deliberately gave incorrect information to foreign truck drivers trying to cross from Tajikistan into Uzbekistan, news media reported.
According to report, the Tajiks wrongly told the truckers that the Uzbek customs post on the other side was closed, according to state-owned Uzbekistan TV.
The Tajiks blocked about 30 trucks from entering Uzbekistan February 1 and 2, CA-news reported.
The Uzbek customs authority said its post was not closed and expressed hope that the World Customs Organisation and other international organisations would help resolve the dispute, said Trend.az.
