Tajiks sell no Rogun shares this quarter
By Stan Rogers
2010-12-13
DUSHANBE – Tajik authorities failed to sell a single share in the Rogun dam construction project in the past three months, Asiaplus.tj reported December 13, quoting a Finance Ministry source.
The source was unable to give a reason for the lack of share sales but said the government had stopped its massive Rogun share advertising campaign after a meeting between Tajik President Emomali Rakhmon and IMF Mission Chief for Tajikistan Axel Schimmelpfennig.
Some Tajiks have complained the share sales amount to forced taxation.
