Militant attacks in Kandahar planned from outside
Staff Report
2011-03-03
KANDAHAR – The attack on Kandahar police headquarters February 12 was planned outside Afghanistan, Governor Tooryalai Wesa and head of Kandahar National Directorate of Security Gen. Naim Momin said, according to a February 21 report by the provincial state-owned Kandahar TV.
Wesa condemned the attack.
The insurgents planned to strike other government buildings that day, Momin said, adding that those plans were thwarted because the government received intelligence in time.
Wesa lauded the Afghan National Army and Afghan National Police for blocking those plots.
