Lahore police arrest 6 for 2009 cricket team attack

LAHORE -- Police have arrested six suspects in connection with the March 2009 attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team, Lahore Police Chief Aslam Tareen said March 29.
The suspects include alleged mastermind Amanullah, alias Saif, Tareen said. He credited intelligence agencies with helping police.
The suspects come from Toba Tek Singh, Karachi and Bahawalpur, Tareen said, adding that police seized arms and ammunition from them. The suspects bought their weapons in Faisalabad, he said.
Eight Pakistanis, including six policemen, were killed in the attack on the Sri Lankan team's bus. Eight cricketers were injured.
