Kazakhs to regulate food prices

ASTANA – Kazakhstan has formed a commission to regulate retail prices of staple foods, CA-NEWS.org reported June 21.
Prime Minister Karim Masimov signed a resolution June 17 compelling oblast and city governments to submit maximum allowable prices for the coming year by November 20 annually. The commission will review data and set prices for staple foods.
Commission members include First Deputy Prime Minister Umirzak Shukeyev, Economic Development Minister Kairat Kelimbekov, Agriculture Minister Asylzhan Mamytbekov and other officials.
