BISHKEK – The Kyrgyz parliament returned to work September 1 after a summer recess to deal with judicial reform and other issues.
Judicial reform is a big topic because the Supreme Court and civil society has recently objected to the Judicial Selection Council, a group tasked with naming judges. The MPs are considering amending the law on judicial selection.
Parliament plans to review 14 Supreme Court nominations by President Roza Otunbayeva on September 8.
