MIRANSHAH – Nine militants have been killed during infighting between Haqqani network members and loyalists of a dissident Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) commander.
The clash started early April 18 in the village of Almar, in Shawa Tehsil, North Waziristan Agency, and continued into the next day.
Hundreds of Haqqani members and Hafiz Gul Bahdar Taliban attacked the Almar house of TTP dissident commander Sayd Sattar to avenge the killing of Haqqani Taliban commander Haji Qadir Khan, Dawn News reported.
Qadir was reportedly killed two weeks earlier in the Thall Adda Masjid Bazaar area of Hangu District by Shadmi Khel tribesmen loyal to Sayd Sattar, intelligence officials told Dawn News.
Both sides have reportedly been using heavy weapons and rockets in the attack, which started at 6 am. Five people from Sayd Sattar’s side and four Haqqani Taliban and their loyalists are among the dead, Dawn News reported. The toll is expected to rise as the clash continues.
