Gilgit-Baltistan police chief Hussain Asghar suspended

ISLAMABAD – The Pakistani federal government July 19 informed the Supreme Court (SC) it had suspended Gilgit-Baltistan Inspector General of Police Hussain Asghar on the SC’s orders, Dawn News reported.
A three-member SC bench July 18 heard a case related to charges of corruption and mismanagement of the 2010 Hajj. The court ordered Ashgar’s termination for failure to appear regarding the Hajj case.
Attorney General Irfan Qadir produced the notification pertaining to the officer’s suspension.
