Measles kills 9 children in Mohmand Agency

GHALANAI – Nine children have died of measles in the past week in Mohmand Agency, an official said.
"About 25 others have been hospitalised due to a breakout of measles in Ambar Tehsil of Mohmand Agency," Dr. Farooq Shah, agency surgeon, told Central Asia Online July 30.
Two of the dead were from Ambar Tehsil, he said.
He said that seven more children died and 50 others were hospitalised in Guhmbati, Shah Jee Kore, Soor Tangi, Bakhmal Shah, Musa Kore, Koat Miangan and Kario Kore.
Medical teams and medicines have been sent and a vaccination programme has been launched in the affected areas, Shah said.
