PESHAWAR – As the 24 victims of the February 22 Mardan wedding party bus accident were buried February 25, authorities continued searching for at least 10 children and women missing after their bus skidded into a flooded canal in Peshawar's Chargano Kelay.
Pakistani army divers and personnel from Rescue 1122 and other departments have failed in four days of searching to find the bodies.
Police February 25 also arrested the driver of the ill-fated bus in connection with charges of negligence, senior Peshawar police officer Javed Khan said. The driver was allegedly speeding and lost control after misjudging a bridge crossing.
Most of the victims came from a single family and were heading to a February 24 wedding, which was cancelled because of the tragedy. They were from the bride's side.
