ASHGABAT – Forty ministries, government agencies and business, civic and religious organisations are participating in a programme to eradicate tobacco use from Turkmen life by 2025, Mive Berdymuradova, spokeswoman for the Health Ministry Oncology Scientific Research Institute, said July 25.
Turkmenistan has enacted various anti-tobacco regulations over the years, including a 2000 prohibition on smoking in all public places. The country has lower percentages of male and female smokers than any country in Europe, Berdymuradova said.
